School of Contemporary Music Certificates program provides you with a broad foundation of musical knowledge, technique and practical experience that prepares you for virtually any style of contemporary and gospel music performance.

Drum course is the classic drum program for contemporary and gospel drummers. The unique, intensive curriculum develops professional-level skill, experience and confidence while preserving your individual vision as a gospel drum player. The instructor not only trains you in traditional and innovative playing styles and techniques, but shows you how to work with leading-edge. The course gives you the tools and playing experience you need to achieve your creative and career goals as a contemporary and gospel drummer.

Drum requires board knowledge of drumming and wide variety of skills in the church today. Students acquire essential experience using gospel level of playing and church standard in order to be well prepared for work in the church or individual ministry.

Upon completion of the program, students will:

  • Have a thorough knowledge of the proper technical skills needed to be a successful performer on the drum set. These would include using proper limb motions in order to get the best sound and tone, maintaining good balance and posture and having solid hand and foot coordination and 4-way independence.
  • Use the skills that accompany being a good drummer, including knowing how to read and interpret the written page, play with a click, be able to play typical hand percussion instruments and program and play electronic instruments.
  • Use these skills and apply them in large and small ensembles in a variety of musical styles, including jazz, rock, funk, Latin and other contemporary and hybrid styles. Also, have an understanding of the history of these styles and their effect on the music of our time.
  • Know how to interact with other musicians in a group setting, take direction, follow a conductor and be a leader in the ensemble.
  • Have a thorough understanding of rhythm, which includes knowing all the rudiments, developing sticking vocabulary, having the ability to create and play odd phrases and meters and have the know-how to use rhythm appropriately and effectively in a musical setting.
  • Have the ability to improvise, including soloing in a variety of musical styles and settings.
  • Have basic keyboard and theory knowledge, be knowledgeable of the business of music, understand music tech and be completely literate in the field of music.
  • Acquire the confidence that is required of the drummer in each and every musical setting and fully understand the importance of the drummer’s role in the musical process.




Minimum requirements: Students must have passed at least Five GCSE’s subjects including English Language. We welcome applicants that have studied the arts or performance or hold A Level/BTEC qualifications, or equivalent or relevant industry experience with interest in gospel music.

Musical competency evidenced by grade achievement (Grade 6) or equivalent, theory competence at (Grade 5) or equivalent.
(Non-native English speaking students need to meet our English language requirement of IELTS 5.5 or equivalent).



This will include student will be assessed in a variety of ways, weekly live performances, your own compositions, analytical and critical essays and presentations will all contribute to your mark through both coursework and tests. There will also be practical musicianship assessments, performance and skills tests, written harmony tests, some of the projects and performances will be done in groups. And also receive feedback on your work from other students as well as your tutor

On acceptance of the offer for admission, a registration Fee of £250 (and for international students £300) is required to confirm your place on the course. This is non-refundable and separate from the final tuition fees.

Full-time Tuition Fees for UK/EU is set at £4,500 and International students set at £5,250 per academic year. Tuition fees are due in full at the start of course.

UK/EU students can pay in two equal instalments of £2,250 (to be payable on the first day of Term 1, and second instalments the first day back after the first quarter of the course if unable to pay in full at start of course.

The main building is open to students 8:00am – 7:00pm, Monday through Friday during term time.
